EARLY YEARS
Activities and Developments
Months I-12
It may feel like nothing really happens during this year of life, but don’t be deceived.
During this first year, your baby will develop faster than at any other time in their lives. Their brains grow by the second as they absorb information constantly from around them. Their bodies and muscles strengthen.
During this year, your baby will undergo a metamorphic transformation. They will turn from helpless little beings into crawling, walking, babbling, giggling little wrigglers. They will not only be able to understand what you are saying but also respond to your instructions.
Unfortunately, this is only if they receive the mental, physical and environmental stimulation required to develop their supercharged brains properly.
Therefore, infants who do not have access to rich learning environments and activities, during this time will undergo slower brain development and coordination.
This could hold them back and even have a knock-on effect in the years to come, unless corrective measures are implemented quickly at a later date.
To give babies a head-start in life and to help them setup for a successful future, use the activities in the sections below to develop their coordination, muscle strength, cognition and understanding of their world.
