
In order for your child’s speech to develop children need to have ample opportunity to practise. This means you need to give your child a lot of opportunity to speak and talk to them to model how to speak to others.
Even if they are babies, look them in the eye and try to talk to them between their gurgles and coos, so that it sounds like you are taking turns.
The more you attempt to have a conversation with your child, the more he/she will be encouraged to reply, helping to avoid some speech development problems later on.
