What are the Early Years and Foundation Stages?
The Early Years and Foundation Stages are crucial stages in a child’s life and often the stage that most parents overlook.
The Early Years refer to the ages 0 – 4 years old, while Foundation Stage refers to 4 – 5 years old.
This is because most adults assume infants simply “grow and play” and need to be physically taken care of, as they are helpless beings that cannot fend for themselves.
In reality, this is the time that the foundations for an infant’s future are set.
Just as the “largest part” of an iceberg is found underwater and unseen; the foundations of a house are under the earth and hidden from view; or the roots of an Oak tree stretch deep underground to ensure its strength and sturdiness. Similarly, the Early Years and Foundation stage set an infant up for life.
In other words, the strength of development that take place in an infant’s life during the Early Years and Foundation Stages also determine the strength and success of a child’s progress and development in the years to come.
Use the guide below to help you prepare your infant for future success and give them the roots and strength of character and resilience to excel in their life ahead.
